What Are Your Favorite Books?

Did you know that you can now support CVLS by shopping at Amazon? We recently began participating in the Amazon Smile initiative, which allows shoppers to donate 0.5% of any purchase to the charity of your choice. To get started with Amazon Smile, click HERE.

At CVLS, we love to read - fiction and nonfiction, legal and otherwise, books we find helpful for work - so we compiled a list of a few favorites from our staff.

Thank You, Volunteer Maria!

While CVLS' Minor GAL Director Rebekah Rashidfarokhi was on maternity leave, volunteer Maria Petrone filled in. Maria has been a devoted volunteer attorney since 2009, and has worked both as a panel volunteer and with our Thunderdome Divorce Clinic. She is also currently a freelance writer for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. Thank you Maria for all your amazing work!

CVLS hosts Child Representative Training as part of new Domestic Relations program

CVLS is proud to offer an exciting new volunteer opportunity for attorneys to serve as Child Representative in Domestic Relations and Parentage cases. Similar to Guardian ad Litem (GAL) cases in Probate, CVLS is working with the court to accept appointments in contested Domestic Relations custody cases where both parties are pro se and low income. CVLS has agreed to take 30 cases in this pilot year, with the aim of increasing the number of cases in the future.
