Race Judicata Team Captain Information

As team captain, your goal is to create, grow, and marshal your team. Our job is to help you make it look easy.This page is loaded with tools for you to create your team, plan for the after party, and race day checklists to help make you a successful team captain. And if that's not enough, CVLS staff is just an email away to answer any questions you have along the way.


Creating Your Team

The first thing you should do when creating a team is ask yourself two questions:

  1. Do I want to create a password that will be required when registering for my team?
  2. Do I plan on registering for the event myself?

If the answer to either of those questions is Yes, then you will want to use the first, slightly longer, method of creating a team. If you answered No to both questions, then feel free to use the second method of creating a team.

Method 1

The first step to creating your Race Judicata team is to open the online registration form. Click on the "REGISTER" button on the right hand side of the screen.

You will be asked to login to your Race Roster account. If you do not already have an account select "I do not have a Race Roster Password". You will then be asked for your email address and a for your desired pasword. Once entered, click "Sign Up" at the bottom. If you already have a Race Roster account, select "I have a Race Roster Password", enter your information, then click "Sign In" at the bottom.

Next you will be asked how you would like to handle payment. If you plan on having all of your runners pay for themselves, please select "Pay for Myself". If you would like to pay as a group once online registration has closed down, please select "Group Payment".

Continue to fill out the registration form until you reach the fourth section titled "Add Participant 1 to a Team?" Here you will want to select "Yes, create a new team and add this participant". Then simply input the team name and password (optional) that you would like to use. PLEASE NOTE: We strongly recommend all teams using the "group payment" method to secure their teams with a password to prevent unauthorized registrations.

All that is left is simply finishing your registration. If you have any questions please see the Registering Runners section of this page.

Method 2

The first step to creating your Race Judicata team is to open the online registration form. Click on the "Create Team" button on the right hand side of the screen.


You will be asked to login to your Race Roster account. If you do not already have an account select "I do not have a Race Roster Password". You will then be asked for your email address and a for your desired pasword. Once entered, click "Sign Up" at the bottom. If you already have a Race Roster account, select "I have a Race Roster Password", enter your information, then click "Sign In" at the bottom.


Once logged in you will be taken to the team creation page. Enter in your desired team name.

Finally, click "Submit" at the bottom. Congratulations, you have created your team! PLEASE NOTE: Creating a team does not register you for the team, you are just the team captain at this point.


Registering Your Runners

Once you have successfully created your team the next step is to register yourself and your fellow teammates. To make things simple, each team has a unique link that can be sent to your friends and coworkers that will direct them directly to your team registration page. This link can be found by clicking on the "View Teams" link on the left hand section of the registration page. In the search bar type in your team name, and then click on the blue "join team" link below your team name. This will take you to the start of your team registration page. Copy this URL from your web browser. This is the link that you want to send to your friends so they can register for your team.

When you teammates go to this url they will be taken to your team's registration page. Please Note: A Race Roster account is required to register online for Race Judicata®. If you or your teammates try to register without an account they will be shown the account creation page instead.

The first section will ask you which method of payment you would like to use. If your teammates will be paying for themselves they will select the first option, "Pay for Myself". If your teammates' registration fees will be paid for by the team, usually the company sponsoring the team, they will instead select the third option, "Group Payment".

The next step is to fill out the contact information for the person being registered.

Next it will ask for the runner's employer (optional). The second question asks if the runner is an attorney. This information is needed to determine which category of awards the runner is eligible for.

The next section is asking about your team, but you'll notice that your team has already been selected. If you added a password to your team, they will need to enter this now.

Each participant of Race Judicata® will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Have them select their t-shirt size in the pull down menu in the next section.

If you want to register multiple people at once, click on the yellow "ADD ANOTHER TEAM MEMBER" button at the bottom of this page. It will save your first participants info, reset the form, and ask you to fill out the info for the next runner. If you are only registering one person at a time, click the green "CONTINUE" button.

Read the waiver on the next section. Check the "I agree to liability waiver and release" box. Then click the green "CONTINUE" button.

If you would like to make a donation in addition to your registration fee, please do so on the next page. If you would not like to make an additional donation, scroll down and click the green "CONTINUE" button.

You should now be at the final checkout screen. On the right hand side you will see the summary of the order. Runners using the "group payment" method will see that their balance is $0.00. Runners paying for themselves will have a balance that reflects how many runners are being registered for this order. Billing information will be shown on the left side of the screen. If everything is correct click on the green "SUBMIT ODER" button at the bottom. Your registration is not complete until you click submit. If you leave the page without submitting all of your information will be deleted from the system.

Congratulations! You are now registered for Race Judicata® 2017. You will receive a confirmation email at the address you provided.

It is as simple as that. Have each of your teammates complete this process and watch your team grow!
 

Teams that choose the group payment option will have an invoice for all registration fees sent to their team captain on September 8-9. Payment in full is required before you will be able to pick up your team's packets.


Preparing for the Event

Now that you have your team created and your friends are busy signing up, it is time to decide which activities you would like to participate in as a team. Are you going to submit your times together? Aim to win the t-shirt contest? Rent a tent and party the night away after the race? Let's take a look at your options.

T-Shirt Contest
Runners will receive an event t-shirt but teams are encouraged to design their own and enter the t-shirt contest for the chance to claim the traveling trophy for the year. A panel of 3 judges will review all submissions and choose their favorite as the winner. All shirts will be displayed on the field so you will have a chance to check out your competition.

To enter the t-shirt contest please submit one copy of your shirt along with a t-shirt entry form at least one day before the race. Feel free to use the race logo. All we ask is that you do not alter it.

Tents
Ask anyone who has participated in Race Judicata® before and they will tell you that the after party is just as big as the race itself! Reserve your space at the party by renting a tent and give your team their own spot to call home base. Tent are available in two sizes and come with tables and chairs. When you show up on race day it will be waiting for you with your name all over it. Teams that rent a tent can also have their race materials delivered to their tent which means they don't have to worry about attending packet pickup.

A list of preferred caterers can be found at the bottom of the page if you want to provide extra food for your team. Please note that no outside alcohol will be allowed at the event.

To rent a tent all you need to do is fill out a tent form. Space is limited and tent rentals are on a first-come-first-served-basis.


Catering

Race Judicata® is proud to partner with Potbelly® to offer our participants and teams a delicious and convenient option for your catering needs. As the preferred caterer for Race Judicata®, Potbelly® is offering three different boxed meals which will be available during the event. Teams with tents will have their meals delivered to their tents, individuals and teams without tents may pick up their meals at the Potbelly® tent during the event. Race Bib required for individual pick up.
