PILI Fellow Settles a Debt

Heidi Hockberger, PILI Fellow
Kirkland & Ellis LLP

John was able to pay his debts, until he was in a car accident in 2012. He was found at fault and ended up owing $21,000 to the other driver’s insurance company. When he couldn’t pay the judgment, his license was suspended, which seriously limited his employment options.

John recently got an offer for a new job as a security guard, but without his license, he couldn’t drive to work. He also couldn’t afford to pay an attorney to represent him. So CVLS did. Heidi Hockberger, a PILI Fellow from Kirkland & Ellis, handled John’s Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Once the crippling debt was discharged, she sent proof to the Secretary of State, and John’s license was immediately reinstated.

Thanks to Heidi’s hard work, John now has a good paying job and is out of debt.
