CVLS is Participating in #GivingTuesday with #ILGiveBig

Monday, December 1, 2014

Inspired by the national giving day movement #GivingTuesday, the#ILGiveBig campaign from Donors Forum brings together nonprofits, families, businesses and individuals. #ILGiveBig aims to inspire Illinois residents in taking collaborative action to improve their local communities and give back in better, smarter ways to the causes they support, and help create a better world.

Join us on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2nd!

Your donation will not only help CVLS in our mission to bring high-quality pro bono civil legal aid services to low-income Chicagoans, but also contribute to a giving movement supporting nonprofits statewide - Donors Forum aims to raise $12 million for Illinois nonprofits!

Read on to learn what we're grateful for this season and how your donation will help CVLS.

#GIVINGTUESDAY is about giving thanks.

Here are a few things we're thankful for this season:

Our volunteer network immeasurably expands our impact throughout Chicago. Our volunteer-driven model means our clients benefit from the myriad experience and specialties of the nearly 3,000 attorneys who donate their time to the fight for equal access to justice.

Clients come to CVLS with legal problems they don't have the ability or the financial resources to handle. We're proud to be able to help them resolve serious issues in court. With a CVLS lawyer a person can secure a paycheck, save a house from foreclosure, adopt or gain guardianship of a child, care for an elderly relative, resolve an insurance dispute and, most importantly, receive help navigating a complicated legal system.

We're surrounded by legal professionals who understand the importance of providing pro bono civil legal aid services, and who use their skills to help in any way they can. We are glad to be able to provide Continuing Legal Education to help you hone your skills to better serve your clients, as well as those you take on through CVLS.

Without you, none of the work we do on behalf of low-income Chicagoans would be possible.

Thank you for all you do to support CVLS.

Here are a few ways your donation will support the fight for equal access to justice:

At only $150 per case, CVLS is recognized as the most comprehensive, most efficient and most cost-effective civil legal aid provider in Chicago. With your donation of $150, you've protected a child, allowed a homeowner to remain in her home or secured a paycheck.
In short, you've changed someone's life.

As part of our ongoing commitment to the legal community, we are pleased to offer monthly Continuing Legal Education seminars on a variety of topics for absolutely no charge. Consider helping us cover the costs of presenting the seminars - you'll be contributing to the professional development of your colleagues.

Our volunteers donate their time for several hours or even weeks while working on a CVLS case. With a recurring donation, you're ensuring continued advocacy on behalf of Chicago's most vulnerable citizens.
